| MUNKHOLMEN - The pearl of Trondheim Fjord
Trondheim's historic execution site
There was a Benedictine abbey on this site for around 1000 years.
In 1658, it was converted to a fort and jail, and later to a customs post.
Nowadays, Munkholmen is a popular place for a day out with bathing and service facilities.
The preserved Commandant's Residence and other buildings dating from the 1700s have been faithfully restored
and now provide and inspirational venue for conferences, parties and other events.
